is an always ongoing enacting of and inquiry into the otherwise; a rhizomatic transcontextual interweaving of modes and nodes of art and study, fueled by the the desire and devotion to discover and live out ways of being that are predicated on freedom and wellbeing, in spite of the oppressive and extractive structures that shape the world.
Resisting governance, it is wild, it is chaotic, it is always (in)complete. It understands purpose, process, method, and outcome as overlapping and interchangeable. It starts and ends in the middle, which is to say that it never leaves the (under)commons. It is never not convivial, and never not artistic. It acknowledges the necessity and the limits of (critical) thought as it engages with it in rigorously playful ways. It is the artful and creative (dis)organizing that takes place upon certain conditions being met, a few of which are: acceptance of death; dispossession of ambition; comfort in not-knowing.
It is where thought is sensual and touch is visual; where theory is felt and lived, and practice is a kind (of) dying. It is inherently multimodal and synesthetic. It is complex and convoluted and simply put, it is simply living, and living simply. It is non-disciplinary, ignorantly unaware of where a discipline ends and begins. It is non-academic, and in being so, is unafraid to borrow, steal, sabotage, and use academic and theoretical language in service of an organic sensemaking process that is never private and individual, but also always personal and not. It is where scientific method, creative process, spiritual practice, and radical study intermingle in vibrant blur. It is practical and poetic.
It is simultaneously local and global and galactic and beyond place. It is never not embodied. It does not seek visibility; it is vision itself, and paradoxically, a kind of seeing that does not need sight. It does not need a platform; it is its own stage and staging. It is not concerned about correctness, it is sensitive to context and difference. It is always wary of institutions, but is willing to engage and play with any entity as it is not afraid of cooptation or complicity. It is firm in its shapelessness, ecstatic in its trickstery. It is ever mistaken, and perpetually self-correcting. It is shameless in its curiosity and tender in its persistence. It distrusts the world, and completely trusts life. It is fugitivity. It is study. It is fugitivity as study.
